The Essence of Living Yoga Level 2 (300HR) training takes place at the Essence of Living Tallebudgera Valley Retreat on the stunning Gold Coast, Australia. Course Outline

Advanced Techniques Training/Practice

Includes asana, pranayama, kriyas, chanting, mantra, meditation and other traditional yoga techniques. These hours are a mix between analytical training in how to teach and practice the techniques and the guided practice of the techniques themselves. Both areas receive substantial emphasis.

Advanced Teaching Methodology

Includes principles of demonstration, observation, assisting and correcting, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher, the students’ process of learning and business aspects of teaching yoga.

Anatomy & Physiology/Nutrition

Includes both human physical anatomy and physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.) and energy anatomy and physiology (chakras, nadis, etc.). Includes both the study of the subject and application of its principles to yoga practice (benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns, etc).

Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics for Yoga Teachers

Includes the study of yoga philosophies, yoga lifestyle and ethics for yoga teachers. Includes an introduction to Buddhism and Ayurveda and how yoga relates to them practically and spiritually.


Includes practice teaching, receiving feedback, observing others teaching and hearing and giving feedback. Also includes assisting students while someone else is teaching.

Day Retreat

A yoga and juice fasting retreat where you will go deeper into self-discovery and reflection. Includes daily pranayama, meditation and asana practice.


In order to equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to be a yoga teacher, there are a number of assessments required as a part of the course.

  • 40 class participations (can be signed off before course commencement)
  • 10 class observation reports
  • 20 class assists
  • 3 one hour class deliveries (with your fellow teacher trainees)
  • 1 written exam
  • 6 reflective essays/book reports

Many of these pieces of assessment will be delivered during your training, however you do have a total of 6 months to complete all of your assessment.

7.00am – 9.30am
Meditation, pranayama and 1.5 hour yoga asana practice
9.30am – 10.00am
Breakfast and a swim in the creek
10:00am – 12.30pm
Teaching techniques or sequencing.

Michelle Cassidy is the founder and operator of Essence of Living Yoga & Pilates studio and Teacher Training Academy on the Gold Coast. After first discovering Yoga and Pilates at the young age of 16, Michelle knew this was her calling and she wanted to share both the spiritual and physical benefits of the practice with others.

Clare Merrifield is a beautifully organic yogini who will surprise and delight you with her amazing classes. Clare’s classes are the perfect blend of dynamic movement and scintillating stillness.
Clare has completed Lance Shuler’s (Inspya Yoga) Yoga Level 1 training and Radiantly Alive’s Level 1 training. Clare has also mentored on the Radiantly Alive’s teaching course six times.

Andrew Mournehis graduated from the Phoenix Institute of Australia in 2001 with a very clear vision that his gifts and passions were best directed in the power of group, archetype, mythology and the potent healing energy that is exchanged in each others stories, both personal and universal. Being an already established yoga teacher, he has spent the past 16 years facilitating many healing groups, workshops, intensives and retreats both nationally and internationally working with the healing potential of both Yoga and Transpersonal work.
