Essence of Living yin yoga teachers are trained in a respectful manner in order to honour the traditions of this practice while also remaining considerate of the ever-evolving yoga world.

The Essence of Living Yin Yoga (100HR) training takes place at the Essence of Living studio on the stunning Gold Coast, Australia. Gold Coast Course

Lectures and training: 8 Day Intensive, Monday – Friday, 7.30am – 4pm

Lectures and training: 4 weekends, Saturday & Sunday, 7.30am – 4pm

Melbourne Course

13th November – 24th November 2017

Lectures and training: 2 Weeks, Monday – Friday,  7.30am – 4.00pm. (Includes 30 minute pranayama/meditation and 90minute practice with Cara)

Where: The Daily Dose Studio, Balaclava  

Participation: 18 scheduled classes  (included in course cost). Participation can be completed at The Daily Dose Studio in Balaclava and/or at Live Life Well Studio in Chelsea (included in course cost)

Course Outline

Yoga Philosophy
  • Apply yoga philosophy and history to yoga instruction
  • Develop and apply awareness of specific pranayama to yoga instruction
  • Provide advice to clients on the steps of meditation
  • Utilise a broad knowledge of yoga philosophy and history in yoga planning and programing
Group Yoga Training
  • Develop a broad knowledge of yoga asana and adjustments
  • Instruct Surya Namaskar, standing, balancing, backbending, twisting, forward bending, hip opening and inversion postures
  • Apply safe sequencing, teaching method, adjustments and assists for Surya Namaskar, standing, balancing, backbending, twisting, forward bending, hip opening, inversion and savasana
  • Instruct and monitor yoga programs
  • Plan and deliver group yoga sessions
  • Deliver approved community yoga programs
Anatomy and Physiology

Apply anatomy and physiology principles in a yoga context

Exercise Programming
  • Plan and deliver yoga programs
  • Plan and deliver an athlete-specific yoga program
  • Undertake long term yoga programing
  • Apply exercise science principles to planning yoga exercise
  • Plan and deliver personal yoga training

Assessment

In order to equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to be a yoga teacher, there are a number of assessments required as a part of the course.

  • 20 class participations (can be signed off before course commencement)
  • 1 class observation report
  • 2 one hour class deliveries (with your fellow teacher trainees)
  • 1 written exam
  • 4 reflective essays/book reports
  • 4 two minute presentations on assorted topics

Many of these pieces of assessment will be delivered during your training, however you do have a total of 6 months to complete all of your assessment.

There are a number of books required to complete the course, these will be referenced within the training. You do not have to read them cover to cover before training commences.

Michelle Cassidy is the founder and operator of Essence of Living Yoga & Pilates studio and Teacher Training Academy on the Gold Coast. After first discovering Yoga and Pilates at the young age of 16, Michelle knew this was her calling and she wanted to share both the spiritual and physical benefits of the practice with others.

Erin had been teaching Physical Education and Chemistry in high schools for several years since completing a graduate entry Bachelor of Education (following a Bachelor of Exercise Science). It is this wealth of hands on experience in the classroom which gives Erin the ability to make anatomy and physiology accessible to teacher trainees.

Judes Yang is a heart centered spiritual guide who teaches slow moving, soul awakening Yin yoga classes. She is also the founder Sahaja (yoga mats that give back!) which are available to purchase in the studio. Judes has been teaching yoga for over ten years and has studied with the likes of Shiva Rea and Sarah Powers.
